TiviMate Not Working? Fix Login and Playlist Errors
Quick answer: When TiviMate is not working, the cause is usually one of five things: a mistyped login or the full M3U link pasted where only the server URL should go, an expired subscription, too many devices on one login, a corrupted app cache, or a VPN blocking the stream. Refresh the playlist, clear the cache, and re-check your details in that order. If premium features have vanished, sign back in to your TiviMate account in the app's settings. If a second player app fails in exactly the same way, the fault is your provider's servers, not TiviMate.
TiviMate is the favourite IPTV player for a lot of people in the UK, mainly because its TV guide feels like a proper Sky or Virgin box. So when it suddenly shows a playlist error, sits on a loading screen, or stops playing channels, it's frustrating, especially when you can't tell whether the app, your device or your provider is to blame.
The good news is that TiviMate problems fall into a handful of patterns, and each has a clear fix. This guide walks through them in the order that saves you the most time. One thing to keep in mind throughout: TiviMate is a player. It has no channels of its own. Everything you watch comes from your IPTV subscription, which is why so many "TiviMate not working" problems turn out to be login or provider issues.
First, work out what kind of "not working" it is
The symptom points straight to the cause. Find yours in the table, then jump to the matching section.
| What you see | Most likely cause | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| "An error has occurred while processing the playlist" | Wrong login details or server URL | Login and playlist errors |
| Worked yesterday, error today | Subscription or trial has expired | Login and playlist errors |
| Stuck on loading, or channels show but won't play | Cache, device limit or VPN | Stuck loading |
| Recording, favourites or catch-up disappeared | Premium has signed out | Premium stopped working |
| Can't find TiviMate to install | Your device doesn't support it | Can't install TiviMate |
| Black screen on one channel only | That channel's source | Nothing to fix — try later |
Fixing TiviMate login and playlist errors
The most common TiviMate error message is a version of "An error has occurred while processing the playlist. Make sure you have entered the correct data." Despite the vague wording, it almost always means one thing: the server rejected the details you typed in.
Check how you added the playlist
TiviMate lets you add a playlist in two ways, and mixing them up causes a lot of errors.
- Xtream Codes login: you enter a server URL, a username and a password as three separate details.
- M3U playlist: you paste one long link that already contains your username and password.
If you chose Xtream Codes, the server URL is only the first part of your M3U link. If your link looks like http://example-server.com:8080/get.php?username=…, the server URL is http://example-server.com:8080. Keep the http:// and the port number, stop before /get.php, and don't add a slash at the end. Our guide to adding an M3U link or Xtream Codes login shows this with examples.
Copy your details, don't retype them
Logins are case-sensitive, and they're easy to get wrong on a TV remote. A capital letter, a zero typed as the letter O, or an invisible space at the end of a password will all trigger the playlist error.
The fix: open your provider's message on your phone and copy the details exactly. If you have to type them, go slowly and check each character before you save.
Make sure your subscription is still active
An expired subscription gives exactly the same error as a wrong password. If TiviMate worked yesterday and doesn't today, check when your pass ends. Free trials expire at a fixed time, and the login stops working the moment they do.
TiviMate stuck loading or channels won't play
If TiviMate accepts your login but then hangs, or the channel list appears but nothing plays, try these fixes in order.
Refresh the playlist manually
TiviMate stores a copy of your channel list and updates it on a schedule. If your provider has changed something since the last update, the stored list can point at streams that no longer exist. Go to Settings → Playlists, choose your playlist, and select Update playlist. If the TV guide is blank too, our guide to fixing a missing IPTV EPG covers that separately.
Clear the app's cache
A corrupted cache is the most common cause of an app that worked last week and now freezes. On a Firestick or Android TV, go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications, choose TiviMate and select Clear Cache. Amazon's guide to clearing app cache and data on Fire TV has the exact steps for each model.
Only use Clear Data if clearing the cache doesn't help. It resets TiviMate completely, so you'll need to add your playlist again and sign back in to premium.
Check you're within your device limit
Most IPTV subscriptions allow a set number of streams at the same time. If someone else in the house is already watching on your login and you're on a one-device plan, TiviMate may load the list but refuse to play. TiviMate's multi-view feature counts too: each extra channel on screen is a separate stream. Our guide to how many devices you can use IPTV on explains how these limits work.
Turn off your VPN and test again
Some providers block traffic from VPN servers, and some VPN locations are slow enough to stop streams starting. Switch the VPN off and try a channel. If it plays, either connect to a different VPN location or leave it off for IPTV.
TiviMate premium stopped working
TiviMate's extra features (multiple playlists, recording, favourites, catch-up and multi-view) need a premium unlock. You buy it through the separate TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone, as a yearly subscription or a one-off lifetime purchase. It's linked to a TiviMate account, and one account covers up to five devices.
If those features have suddenly disappeared, the app has usually signed out of your account. That often happens after clearing data or reinstalling. Go to Settings → Unlock Premium, choose Login, and enter the email and password you used in the Companion app.
If it still won't unlock, check in the Companion app that your yearly subscription hasn't lapsed, and that you haven't already used all five device slots on old devices. Removing a device you no longer use frees up a slot.
Can't install TiviMate?
Sometimes "TiviMate not working" really means "TiviMate won't install". That's down to your device, not your login.
- Android TV and Google TV: TiviMate is on Google Play, so this is the easiest place to run it.
- Older Firesticks: TiviMate isn't in the Amazon Appstore, but it can be sideloaded on sticks running Fire OS.
- Newer Firesticks: the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and later models run Amazon's Vega OS, which doesn't allow normal sideloading. You can't install TiviMate on these at all.
- iPhone, iPad, Samsung and LG TVs: there's no TiviMate version.
If your device can't run it, you're not stuck. Your login works in other players too. Our TiviMate vs IPTV Smarters comparison covers the alternatives for each device, and our Android TV setup guide walks through a fresh install.
When it's your provider, not TiviMate
Here's the test that settles it. Install a second player, such as XCIPTV or VLC, and log in with the same details.
If the second app has exactly the same problem, TiviMate was never the issue. Either your details are wrong, your subscription has lapsed, or your provider's servers are down or overloaded. You can check the first two yourself. The third you can't fix. If it keeps happening at busy times, like weekday evenings or Saturday football, that's a sign of a service that has taken on more customers than its servers can handle.
A genuine provider will tell you quickly whether the fault is on their side. If your messages go unanswered, take that as your answer. If you're thinking of moving, here's how to pick an IPTV provider in the UK that holds up on a Saturday afternoon.
TiviMate FAQ
Why does TiviMate say "error processing the playlist"?
It means the server rejected your details. The usual causes are a typo in the username or password, the full M3U link pasted into the server URL box, a slash added at the end of the server URL, or a subscription that has expired. Copy your details from your provider's message rather than retyping them.
Does clearing TiviMate's data remove premium?
It signs you out, but it doesn't cancel anything. Premium is tied to your TiviMate account, not to the app's data. Go to Settings, choose Unlock Premium, and log in with the same email and password to get it back.
Does TiviMate work on the new Fire TV Stick?
Not on models running Vega OS, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, because they don't allow apps to be sideloaded. TiviMate still runs on older Fire OS sticks and on any Android TV or Google TV device.
Why does TiviMate work on Wi-Fi at home but not elsewhere?
Usually it's the network, not the app. Some public, work and mobile networks block IPTV traffic, and a few providers limit where a login can be used. Test on your home connection first, and check your provider's terms if you watch away from home.
The bottom line
When TiviMate stops working, the app is rarely the real problem. Check that your server URL is the short version, copy your login details rather than typing them, and make sure your subscription is active. Then refresh the playlist and clear the cache. If premium features vanish, sign back in from the settings menu.
